Warum Video?
Ich nutze Video in verschiedener Hinsicht.
Neben den Dokumentationen von live-Performances gibt es Aktionen von mir, die ich extra für Video entworfen habe. Z.B. das Grundgesetz-Video „5x5“ oder „Reflexionen der Weltlage“.
Außerdem mache ich Kurzfilme, die oft zu ganzen Reihen gehören, etwa die Videos zu meinem WIND-Projekt oder die Sammlung der „Seven Natural Movements“.
Alle diese Aktionen gehören zum Bereich der media arte povera, mit dem ich Wege suche, moderne Technik einzusetzen, ohne ihrer Perfektion Raum zu geben. Statt großer technischer Finesse und „bigger than life“-Ästhetik geht es mir darum, meine Videos so nah wie möglich an einer Alltagserfahrung zu orientieren, obwohl oder gerade weil die Inhalte oft die Alltagserfahrung weit transzendieren.
Why Video?
I use video in different forms in my artistic work.
Beside documentation of live performances there are actions that I have created especially for video art. Like the Constitution-video „5x5“ or the „reflexions on the state of the world“ (German). And I make short films, which belong often to a series like the videos of my WIND-project or the collection „Seven Natural Movements.
All these activities belong to the realm of media arte povera, in which I am looking for ways to use technology without giving space to their perfection. Instead of technological finesse and „bigger than life“-esthetics I look for images that are as close as possible to daily life experience - although or because the content of my films transcend daily life experience.
